I have a theory.

What if part of the reason Death pu up the wall in Sam’s head was because he know he would have his “hallucinations”?

Death knew a lot of things the brothers didn’t.

What if he knew that bringing Sam’s soul back, he would take a little bit of Lucifer with it? I think the only reason it’s only Lucifer because Lucifer was more attatched to Sam, his vessel whereas Micheal had no reason to be attached.

Now that little bit of Lucifer resides in Sam’s head, not having enough power to control Sam, he is continuesly bored and annoys Sam to no end. The extent of his powers making Sam “see” things.

I don’t know. It was a thought.
